I'll wait to update, but in the meantime I've encountered a build
problem with the 2.10 tarball, the build stopping with:
make[2]: *** No rule to make target
`/usr/src/glibc-2.10/compile/io/lseek.o', needed by
`/usr/src/glibc-2.10/compile/io/stamp.o'. Stop.
waverley:~$ uname -a
Linux waverley 2.6.29.3 #2 SMP PREEMPT Sat May 9 11:54:20 EDT 2009
i686 GNU/Linux
waverley:~$ gcc -v
Using built-in specs.
Target: i686-pc-linux-gnu
Configured with: ../configure --prefix=/opt/gcc4 --with-arch=i486
--infodir=/usr/share/info --mandir=/usr/share/man --disable-nls
--enable-languages=c,c++,fortran
Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.4.0 (GCC)
The current glibc installation is the 2.9 release, in building
which I did not have this problem.
