There is another issue that GDB build from CVS/GIT should detect early
enough
the missing tools (like bison/flex) than mysteriously failing afterwards.
But I think this issue should not be mixed with this one. Also it is
unrelated to the 7.4-branch which needs this fix.

I'd agree we could detect this early on. I got have all old Solaris sparc
machines I got done with configure, and then like 6 minutes into make it
fell over.
On this note, have pkg-config under ruby, they use it for Ruby-GTK is really
cool on this. It is really slick and knowing what you need.
