You did very well. Allow me a minor comment:

There's no need to up-case the argument of @var. In the Info manual,
it will be up-cased by makeinfo. But in the printed manual, TeX
typesets @var in a slanted typeface, so upper-case PID will look ugly.
The same pertains to the HTML output.
So just @var{pid} should do the job.
Otherwise, please commit this.
