My understanding is that this is going to happen. Until it does,
though, we will be chasing after various patches and work-in-progress
versions.

Ah, no, then we just get to help _keep_ it working ;-).
At the risk of stating the obvious, feedback from people who are
trying to actually use this darn thing will be needed on an ongoing
basis. The bug-tracking system at http://developer.redhat.com/ is one
place for that, the GDB mailing lists are another, &c.
On an unrelated but analogous note, Cygnus has started checking in the
ia32 optimization improvements to gcc (http://gcc.gnu.org/). Cool to
see this happening (and it means there is hope for getting these kinds
of enhancements written and checked in :-)).
