The below code worked both in IE 5.0 and Opera 7.11 (except the menu
does of course follow the page when it scrolls in IE):

	  background-repeat:no-repeat;
	  font-family:"Arial,sans-serif";
	  font-style: normal;
	  font-variant: normal;
	  font-weight:bold;
	  text-align:left;
	  font-size:11pt;
	  position: absolute;
	  padding-top: 8em;
	  top: 0.5em;
	  left: -15em;
	  width: 14em;
	  right: auto;
	  }

	div>div.toc
	{
	  position: fixed;
	  left: 0.5em;
	  }
