RE: [docbook-apps] background-image across page regions

Are you using an .eps image or a bitmap? I've found that to use a bitmap on a cover I have to use xep's extensions to make the image the same size as the page.width. For this reason, I prefer to use epses. Maybe this example of how to do a full page cover could give you some ideas for your present situation:

I don't know if this will work, but
did you try setting the background-position-horizontal 
to a negative value, equal to the left page margin?
Same with the background-position-vertical and the top margin.  
The image needs to be big enough to cover the whole page,
of course.
