Alternatively, what about using DISPLAY=:0 instead?

Apart from the fact that it works for me with 2.2.0-0.1, I don't see
that this has anything to do with a regression in Cygwin 2.2.0-0.1
compared to Cygwin 2.1.0-1. Please don't hijack threads which have
nothing to do with your problem.
