That did it, although I think I tried it with no quotes before. I also used Windows paths with / in them. This was really frustrating. Cygwin should have better documentation about issues like this.
Glad to be of help. A bunch of this *is* documented, some of it being standard bash-ness and some of if being more specific to cygwin and paths ...
