I see ^H (because I have set it up so that when I press

a !@#$%^&* ASCII delete). This takes patching and
recompiling several packages, but hey, that is why I
use Gentoo.

Can you please enlighten the uninformed (me) how to set
this up in Cygwin? Getting ^? whenever I press backspace
makes it quite unusable (to me) at present.
