How to remotely log in and execute a program

Hello,

I was wondering if someone here could help me.

I'm using an old PC running SuSE 10.1 as a file server for backup purposes.
I run a Windows-based backup program to copy the files across to the linux
box via SMB shares. After the backup is finished, I would like to run a
post-processing Linux-based program on the remote Linux box, and I was
hoping to use Cygwin to do this. Is it possible to log on to the remote
system via Cygwin and then execute a program there? I know about the -e
option to xterm, but how would I start this from Cygwin?

Many thanks,
Paul
