~/email.conf
MY_NAME = 'Joel Rubin'
MY_EMAIL = 'jmrubin@nerdshack.com'
SMTP_AUTH = 'LOGIN'
SMTP_SERVER = 'mail.nerdshack.com'
SMTP_PORT = '25'
SMTP_AUTH_USER = 'jmrubin' -
SMTP_AUTH_PASS = '[censored]'
============================
After I give the command
email -s "Test" myotheraccount@wherever.net
I get the following error:
Communicating with SMTP server...
email: FATAL: Smtp error: 334 UGFzc3dvcmQ6
Caught an ERROR, Shutting down...
===========================
The "error" is just the mail server asking me for the encrypted form
of my user name after I give the AUTH LOGIN command.
UGFzc3dvcmQ = "Username:" in base 64.
It then asks for "Password:" the same way.
I can login to the SMTP server with telnet.
Why does this program die on a 334 message? 334 is a request for more
info, not an error.
