Any ideas what could be wrong when you install cygwin and can even
do startxwin to start an x-server, but you have no vi although you have cat,
ls ,... etc?
You didn't install the vim package?
vi is not installed by default; you'll have to select it in setup.
It is under Editors as 'vim: Vi IMproved'. If you have X installed,
you may want gvim, as well.
If you install vim, you will get a symlink for vi pointing to vim.
