This isn't up for a vote. There will be no filesystems under /dev as long as I'm associated with Cygwin.

As I stated earlier, I don't see any reason to add more complication to Cygwin's path handling. We can deal with the current problem with a mount point.
I've set cygdrive prefix to /dev for years with no ill effects....
Have you looked behind your computer recently? ;-)
