cron_diagnose.sh will attempt to diagnose problems with cron. It will not modify any files on your computer. You might need to run the script several times. Each time that it finds a problem, it stops and displays a descriptive message. This script has been updated to add a check for the directory /etc/cron.d/. If it does not find that directory, then it reports that it is missing and stops before making any additional checks. If anyone knows of specific permissions and ownership requirements for /etc/cron.d/, please let me know. At present, it only checks to see that the directory's owner has read and execute permissions.
