My apologies for not posting properly. Using Cygwin 1.3.22 on W2K. I've looked at the archives (extensively) and not found a solution to this. One thing I _did_ do is extapolate from other postings that the problem might be non-compatible versions cygwin with vi. To remedy this, I re-ran setup.exe and got all the "curr" packages.
