I have collected some of them on http://www.tu-chemnitz.de/~goal/xfree.

copy it to /etc/Xmodmap.window_host_name

Best would be in xdm config. Check your Xsetup from the xdm dir. If there is
a line "hostmodmap=${ETCDIR}/Xmodmap.${DISPLAY%:*}" and later
"test -r $hostmodmap && $xmodmap $hostmodmap" then it should already work.
Otherwise add a line "xmodmap /etc/Xmodmap.${DISPLAY%:*}".
If you have the keyboardsettings only during xdm login window, you have to
copy the modmap to ~/.Xmodmap on the xdmcp host.
