I've left menuconfig now with CT_WANTS_STATIC_LINK and CT_CC_STATIC_LIBSTDCXX enabled but have installed the glibc-static resp. glibc-devel-static package. At least the "static linking impossible" error is gone now, let's see how far it progresses.
