Searching for just the line above, one quickly finds
  http://gcc.gnu.org/PR11103
which suggests that you need a patch to linux.
In fact, the latest 2.4.26 kernel doesn't have the
asm() statements that cause the trouble.  Maybe you
could look for the kernel patch that got rid of the
asm() statements?
