You don't need to write 68k assembler for peekb/pokeb. Since the 68k
doesn't use such a brain damaged segmentation model of the x86, it is
simple to access memory in the linear address space:

void pokeb(char *ptr, char value)
	*ptr = value;

char peekb(char *ptr)
