Actually you did everything right - it is our fault for dropping the ball
on this problem. So please accept my apologies.
I have now reviewed the patch and checked it in to the sources. I will
update the PR shortly.
In the future, if something like this happens again, then the best thing
to do is to either send an email to the binutils list - as you have done -
or to contact the ARM binutils maintainers directly, (their email addresses
as in the binutils/MAINTAINERS file) and ask them if they could find the
time to look at the PR.
