Just for summary:
  no common "release" commit for binutils and gdb, so build
  "release" are
    - for binutils: --disable-{gdb,libdecnumber,sim}
    - for gdb: --disable-{binutils,etc,gas,gold,gprof,ld}
   within sources for proper branch/tag (differ for gdb and binutils)
