Subject: [PATCH 00/20] MIPS/GAS: microMIPS-related clean-ups

Hi Richard,

 In the process of taking your concerns about the microMIPS change into 
account I have come up with this small series of code clean-ups and 
improvements.  Their significance varies by each case and they may or may 
not be relevant to the actual microMIPS change at all.  Please have a look 
at them at your convenience and I'll follow with an updated microMIPS 
change shortly.

 I have regression-tested all the changes with the mips-sde-elf and 
mips-linux-gnu targets (and the NewABI tests additionally enabled even 
though they are normally not for these targets).
