Subject: Circular reference to 'ar'

Greetings

I was building a package on a Solaris 9 system and it failed for the lack of the 'ar' archive utility. So, I downloaded binutils-2.16.1 and tried to build that and much to my suprise _it_ requires the 'ar' utility. How does one go about getting 'ar'?
