My debian ia64-linux machine has binutils 2.14.90.0.6 and seems to be
working fine.  The bytes after the .text string hold the value 250 which
matches the section size printed by objdump.

Perhaps this got fixed in between 2.14.90.0.4 and 2.14.90.0.6?
