I've done so. The curious may be, well, curious to know that I needed
to use CVS 1.10 to do it. CVS 1.11 client complains that the server
knows nothing about '--'.

the branch please say so. I would appreciate it if no one checked
anything in on the branch without talking to me first, so I can keep
track of what is going on. Getting things on the branch at this point
is pretty easy, but do ask first.
The branchpoint is binutils-2_12-branchpoint; the branch is
binutils-2_12-branch. CVS will be done tagging the latter in five or
ten minutes.
Testing the branch is always greatly appreciated. I know of some
Windows (DLL-related) problems, and some Sparc problems, and the
mysterious Cygwin failure that I can't reproduce. More status will be
forthcoming, I hope.
