When I try to compile the testmips16.S I got the following message. 0x3c070000(lui ...) need jalx to change MIPS' ISA? I trace the source file bfd/elf32-mips.c of binutils-2.11.2, around line 6269 I found a piece of code that assigned the value of require_jalx, ============================================================= /* Calls from 16-bit code to 32-bit code and vice versa require the special jalx instruction. */ *require_jalxp = (!info->relocateable && ((r_type == R_MIPS16_26) != target_is_16_bit_code_p)); ==================================================================== and it may cause problems..... I have no idea about it... by the way, I have try to use binutils-2.9.1 and it work fine..... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mips-lexra-elf-gcc -o testmips16 testmips16.S /home/aladdin/xxxx/gcc/lib/gcc-lib/mips-xxxx-elf/3.0/../../../../mips-xxxx-elf/bin/ld: warning: cannot find entry symbol _start; defaulting to 00400000 /home/aladdin/xxxx/gcc/lib/gcc-lib/mips-xxxx-elf/3.0/../../../../mips-xxxx-elf/bin/ld: /tmp/cc6IA6tU.o: .text+0x20: jump to stub routine which is not jal /home/aladdin/xxxx/gcc/lib/gcc-lib/mips-xxxx-elf/3.0/../../../../mips-xxxx-elf/bin/ld: final link failed: Bad value !!!!
