Replacing the -

A while back I got this fix for escaping quotes

<xsl:if test="not(contains($string, '&#x22;'))"><xsl:value-of
select="$string" />
</xsl:if>
</xsl:template>

What do I need to change to make it escape the - ?
I assume &#x22; is the code for "
so what is the code for -
