Kynn --
I've been able to run Apache Cocoon (and consequently Xerces/Xalan) on my
Mac. I'm using the latest (2.2.2) release of the Apple Java Runtime. I use
BBEdit to prepare files which aren't server generated.
Use the JBuilder application (it ships with the Apple Java SDK) to put a
wrapper on the Xalan classes.
