Most likely your generated XHTML contains a default namespace declaration.
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" or the like
So you have to declare this namespace in your stylesheet (with prefix,
say xhtml) and modify your templates like this
<xsl:template match="xhtml:table">
