Might be. Transforming it into DocBook is not an easier task, but allows you to use other peoples documented and supported code to do the dirty work.
Writing your own superiour code is intiially tempting, but fails in the long run since you never have the time to document and implement your quick tools completely. Been there, done that, recommend against it.
