Thanks for the tip. I've got what I want. Any clue when this MSXML Preview
becomes available for production?

Yes, xsl:number is not yet implemented as of the MSXML March Preview.  You
might find some script functions that are helpful in the
xsl-xslt-converter.xslt stylesheet available from the MSXML preview page.
