No. It is actually using plain style. The shadows are added by Xconq. I did
experiment with various built-in text styles including shadow style, but
none of them was satisfactory. The problem is that it has to work well with
different fonts and sizes, and be readable against all backgrounds. None of
the built-in styles is any good for that.

Not easily. If we had only two sizes (32x32 and 16x16) to worry about, it
would be easy to have a fixed size. However, Xconq has to be able to scale
units over several magnifications, and you can have units within units
within units.
