The first line of "stap -h" includes a version string.  Is that the
sort of thing you had in mind?  You could add a "-V" version-only
printing command if you like.

I can extract it from "-h". That should be sufficient. However, I noticed that "-h" not recognized:


$ stap -h
stap: invalid option -- h
SystemTap translator/driver (version 0.2.2 built 2005-08-04)
Copyright (C) 2005 Red Hat, Inc.
This is free software; see the source for copying conditions.

...

The "-V" which just prints out the version information would be nice.
