The assembler (as-cross) doesn't recognize the opcode ".section"

Hi!
I have a some problem which is the compile err 'unknown pseudo-op 
".section" ' my compile condition as:

	Host : i586
	Target: arm
	newlib-1.8.1
	binutils-2.9.1
	gcc-2.8.1
Have you this problem solution ?
