Dear glibc locale maintainers, I am a German-speaking inhabitant of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen (South Tyrol) in Italy. Different to other German-speaking territories (Germany, Austria, Switzerland and also Belgium) we have the disadvantage of not having our own locale. As I am a computer scientist and an active member of the local LUG I finally thought to finally create one for us. So I merged the de_AT and the it_IT locales together to fit my needs. I chose de_AT since our German is Austrian-like, for instance we call January "JÃnner" not "Januar". The territorial components including the telephone and postal formats derive from it_IT. I have performed some tests on it (including show-ucs-data and first-weekdays) and noticed no difficulties. In a nutshell I wrote nothing new, since it is just a combination of the two pre-existing locales. Please let me know about eventual changes and how to get it integrated into upstream glibc. Regards, Matthias Dieter WallnÃfer Bolzano/Bozen
