i think you're just getting lucky by teasing the call order of things

glibc is broken and needs fixing.  as for if/when that'll happen, i think the 
dates on that report speak for themselves.  someone with the inclination to 
fix it will need to step up.  personally, ive never used glibc profiling.  i 
have (ab)used the mcount feature before, but that's a different/unrelated 
topic.
