mtrace memory checking

Hi,
I am trying to do some memory checking using the mtrace facility in
glibc. But for some reason my Linux OS does not seem to have it
installed.
I am using Fedora Core 8. I have tried getting the perl script file and
running it, but it seems to be looking for other items to make it run.
Is there a way to get this installed on my system correctly so that it
will run as the documentation says:
mtrace <image> <log file>
