I want to be able to specify where the locale archive is installed.
Currently the only way to do it appears to be to pass
libc_cv_localedir=/where/i/want as a configure flag. A configure option
would seem more convenient.

Thanks for the link. Comment #7  is right: --localedir is not the
right switch here.
What about adding --with-localearchivedir?
