To enable better testing here's an encore:
glibc-2.2.92.tar.bz2
glibc-linuxthreads-2.2.92.tar.bz2
glibc-2.2.91-2.2.92.diff.bz2
All these files can be found at
ftp://sources.redhat.com/pub/glibc/snapshots
In the last 24 hours we've produced about 400k of patches (most of this
is the update of the translation template file). This does not mean
2.2.91 was not already stable once the accidently included definition of
the compiler flags are removed. Out testing hasn't turned up any
specific problem.
Today's patches include some little patches and a few more important
ones. Beside that several lose ends are tied. The new locale model in
static bnaries should be impplemented, a few functions needed by the new
libsdc++ interface are completed and build breakage on non-x86 platforms
should be removed.
There might be some more tools issues and I especially like to hear
about the tool versions for successful or unsuccessful build. In
consider the code itself very stable and ripe for use on your x86
machine if your tools made the build pass all test suite tests. The
remaining time of the beta testing phase has to iron out the build
issues on non-x86 machines. For Alpha and IA-64 we are pretty sure all
works, the rest must be tested elsewhere.
The only problem I know of is the strange build problem where a stamp
file is reported missing when compiling in the elf subdir. I'll
investigate this later. For now just restart the build.
For those who haven't seen yesterday's announcement. gcc 3.2 is
required. And without very recent binutils releases there will be other
problems. It is suggested to use the binutils releases by HJ Lu which
include addditional change.
So, now to the usual plea: report all successes and failures to
libc-alpha@sources.redhat.com.
