I assume you're using scwm 0.8?  You may want to try one of the recent daily
snapshots instead.  I've been using guile 1.3 with current development
versions of scwm with no problems, and I expect others have been as well.

Scwm 0.9 will be out Real Soon Now (next week?) if you'd rather wait for a
real release.
