Can anyone suggest something? The variable %guile-build-info holds an alist of the paths used when Guile was built. The Makefile variable $(pkgdatadir) gets included in %load-path, so you can say: guile -c "(display (cdr (assq 'pkgdatadir %guile-build-info)))" In tomorrow's snapshot, the `build-guile' utility will have an "info" subcommand, so you can just say build-guile info pkgdatadir
