I have tried compiling gcc-2.1.2 for my RedHat 5.2 system. I am storing
them seperately in /usr/local/gcc.
I found that it succeds with the supplied gcc, but fails (undefined
reference to __libc_global_ctors) if I use gcc-2.95.2 and
binutils-2.9.5.0.24. I thought it was a gcc problem but I now find the
same thing happens if I use egcs-1.1.2 with binutils-2.9.5.0.x. I now
thinking it must be binutils-2.9.5.x.x. I know that people have
compiled glibc-2.1.2 with binutils-2.9.5.x.x so I need some advice.
What is the recommended binutils for gcc-2.95.2 and glibc-2.1.2.
I need it for a native ix86 compile and a powerpc-linux cross compile.
Thanks,
Brendan Simon
