a "make" problem

Hi,

When I was compiling kernel 2.1.59 on Redhat 5.1( glibc-2.0.7), it
occured errors below. How can I figure it out?

/tmp/cca06163.s: Assembler messages:
/tmp/cca06163.s:65: Error: operands given don't match any known 386
instruction
/tmp/cca06163.s:68: Error: operands given don't match any known 386
instruction
make[2]: *** [locks.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [first_rule] Error 2
make: *** [linuxsubdirs] Error 2

Thanks!
