No patch has been proposed for this yet, sorry. Our assumption was that sparc
pre-v9 folks would provide a patch, but this didn't happen. It seemed
wortwhile to at the least have the input of the sparc maintainer(s) because
there's a pattern in the problems related to pre-v9 support; it affects
maintenance, so the maintainer(s) should choose how to solve it.
