[Bug network/17083] New: /etc/hosts file should support IPv6 link-local addresses

https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=17083

            Bug ID: 17083
           Summary: /etc/hosts file should support IPv6 link-local
                    addresses
           Product: glibc
           Version: unspecified
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P2
         Component: network
Assignee: unassigned at sourceware dot org
Reporter: bugdal at aerifal dot cx

In order for IPv6 link-local addresses to be usable, they need a scope_id
identifying the associated link, e.g. %eth0. The /etc/hosts file is the de
facto standard way to add names for easily accessing hosts on a local network,
but it's not usable for link-local addresses because it does not accept a scope
id. Could support for including a scope_id in /etc/hosts be added?
