See also this mail to the Austin Group, raising the issue of whether the next
version of POSIX should standardize something higher-level than posix_openpt(),
and if so, a request that it should be saner than openpty().

If glibc implements a sane precedent first, it will be easier to argue for its
inclusion in POSIX.
