[Bug libc/598] New: glibc-20041204 snapshot does not recognize binutils snapshot versions

the "configure" file from the most recent glibc snapshot (20041204) does
version checking on various binutils utilities and rejects the version numbers
of both "as" and "ld" since it still only handles version numbers of the form
"2.1[3-9]*"

  this should be extended to accept snapshot version numbers as well, no?
