Today's snapshot aborts reading Emacs 23's src/.gdbinit

This is on a machine whose "uname -a" says:

  Linux fencepost 2.6.16.29-xen #1 SMP Wed Dec 6 07:32:36 EST 2006 x86_64 GNU/Linux

It crashes like so:

  eliz@fencepost:~$ cd emacs/src/
  eliz@fencepost:emacs/src$ ~/gdb-6.8.50.20090815/gdb/gdb ./emacs
