Stopping gdbserver locally

Subject: Stopping gdbserver locally

Hello,

When I invoke gdbserver I can stop it only from the remote debugging
machine. The usual signal ctrl-c, ctrl-d and ctrl-z do not seem to interrupt
the process. 

Is there a way to stop gdbserver locally?
