Interesting. Maybe the problem is limited to certain glibcs?
> ./gdb gdb
> info func main*
01Jan03 build: less than 1 second pause before output.
Current build: about 10 seconds pause
This is on a standard RH8.0 Linux system, glibc-2.2.93-5
